- Go Karting Interview/ Podcast
The artefact above was an example of interviewing skills. The questions were specifically targeted at finding the topic’s key points and implementing follow-up questions that produced a broader insight into the interviewee’s perspective on the issue. Personally, I have a passion for motorsports and its ability to have men and women compete equally in sporting. Like most sports dedication and time is necessary. However, the entry-level motorsport (go-karting) excludes a majority of enthusiasts due to barriers of entry such as cost, lack of sport recognition, and access to karting facilities.
2. Minderoo Foundation Pitch
The Minderoo Foundation Pitch, an assessment task for my communication degree required a pre-recorded presentation of audience profiles and advertising campaigns to target said audience. The skills required for the presentation were to identify a target audience, create social media material and rationalise their importance. I rather enjoyed this task as I could test my hobby for photoshop, creation and presenting my work in a business/ marketing setting. While I do not heavily urge a career presenting to a board room, I did enjoy the opportunity to try such a task on a smaller scale and present my own ideas.
3. QANTAS Promotion
The marketing campaign for another assessment task in the communication course required an interactive media (pressing the play button) a video. The purpose was to encourage a younger audience, mainly school children about the adventure that awaits, whilst also promoting Australia’s flagship airliner QANTAS.
4. Formula 1, Short Media Video
The above video was for a TikTok page my friend and I would upload videos about the 2021 formula 1 season and share them with the motorsports community with hashtags such as formula1, fyp, highlights, 2021, competition and grandprix. The video was created midway through the 2021 drivers championship between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen capitalizing on formula ones closest and most exciting racing in recent years. While this does go against my values of creativity (lacks originality), this was simply a passion project to which I wanted to test editing skills.
